I can wear Miu miu all Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn. The Spring 2010 collection by Miu Miu is undoubtedly one of the best. A clever mix of old sewing techniques and contemporary styles.... i'm drooling over these sharp and handsome looking collars. Suddenly, the world seems like a better with more quirky designers like Miu Miu.

The scandinavian Hunt continues....

So I finally made a deposit for 6 chairs. Two of which are the brown ones I posted earlier and 4 other of these above (Hans Wegner) but upholstered in Red leather. Intended use: Dining chairs! But it's a tough choice. I was going to pair these chairs with a wooden table but i fell in love with
a Saarinen Oval Table with marble top.
What am i to do? And my mum is totally supportive of Marble over Wood..See Mum is not helping at all. I was hoping she said no.

It happened to be....

Our afternoon tea being served on a Tibetan trunk. I love
Thursdays...especially when I have great company...yes I'm referring
to P and J.had to draw that analogy...p and j's company is like being
at home in pj.
We settled down at a new concept store called "it's happened to be a
closet." at the emporium. It's all under one roof... They serve
amazing cakes and tarts, they have a VIP room called the mafia room
which you can reserve for nothing.. It has a salon, a small corner for
to pamper your nails, foot reflexology service....Oh yes and a wide wide selection of embroidered clothes for the Young and Old! The Tibetan trunk does sum up the collection a lil... I recommend
the strawberry shortcake. Check out the previous posting.

It's calculated Mish-Mash.....

Revamped airline seats in the store.

The Mafia Room
And It's all coordinated. And it's known as"It's Happened to be a closet". Pin took this pic of us while she was enjoying a pedicure session...Painted in Deep gothic blue.... So Pin.... She was pampered by Jo Malone's creams and Shu Uemura colors. "It's Happened to be a closet" only uses Chanel, Shu Uemura, Anna Sui, Mac etc.

World Record 7.7 million D-Flawless Annenberg Diamond

Opps Did i mention it's a 32 carat Asscher cut. An anonymous buyer paid a good 7.7 million for the rock although it was merely estimated to fetch just over 3 million by Christies. Do the math and that's about 240,000 per wow wow... Wish i was there to capture that jaw dropping moment when the auctioneer pounded the podium.
The diamond was previously owned by philanthropist Leonore "Lee" Annenberg, who died in March at the age of 91. Recession? Really?

Miss the Flavors of Fall / Autumn

Season's Eatings
Living in Asia but still getting e-newsletters and e-invites (sale!) form the US brings me back to the seasons I miss so much. And of course, Fall is my favorite. I like to call it Autumn. I am reminded of the fall flavors I got to enjoy at Marigold Kitchen. Or the walks along Lake shore drive that winds along the lake Mendota, Madison, WI. The path looks very much like
These are the Signature seats you wont miss right outside the union.
These are the colors I miss.....
Inspired by the leaves, the colors, the lines, the branches...
I should just drown myself in some colored stones that resemble the season... Few things that came to mind..... Fire Opal, Citrines, Light Pink Opal, Cognac Diamonds, Smoky Quartz Vintage Signed Ruser Fire Opal and Diamond Ring in 18k Yellow Gold
Fire Opal displays warm colors like yellow, orange, orange-yellow or red and they do not usually show any play-of-color. The most famous source of fire opals is the state of Queretaro in Mexico.

Citrines: I have just recently ordered some special cut citrine and smoky quartz for a collection. Whiskey Citrine Blackened Leaf Top EarringsVia Polyvore by Cathy waterman.

Autumn is beautiful.

French country Bed and Breakfast

Well this hidden treasure is telling me to take a trip to Paris....Le Trentetrois (or Le 33) is just an hour away from Paris.
i love the color combination of the building and it just gets better from here.
Homely entrance...

I like the look of a rug below the dining table. It just ties everything in quite neatly. And that wall color is just my ideal dream color which i can only dream about because I am too lazy to get my walls painted. And I suspect it only looks good with the white floor & ceiling trimmings.
Really love the color scheme and the choise of fabrics in each individual rooms. And I reckon it's the little details that makes this place so charming.

I am surprise that the rates are quite decent. 80 euros for 2 and that includes a warm breakfast served in the garden. Do you like what you see? If you do, go to your nearest Ikea and try a little something. This Bed & Breakfast was cleverly put together with Ikea furnishings.

Jewels...jewels Do I need you?

Do we need jewelry? of course not.. It is really not at all a necessity... So it made me wonder, why am I designing all these pieces for? What is the value behind it? And esp. during times of recession when people are really trying to meet their immediate needs first before thinking about jewelry. So it really made me wonder if i should switch trade... start a laundry store or a little supermarket round the corner of my building... Something closer to a necessity.
Elegant woman in Pearls... A
And even on her wedding, Jackie Kennedy wore a simple strand of pearls. (Ok i love her gown)

TIme are not so good but women, and men too are still very much drawn to jewelry... And I can sometimes relate to that because when i get to enjoy jewelry, as a receiver, there is an unspoken significance to it.Why jewelry? Jewels: they conjure memories, they could symbolize a significant milestone, a family heirloom, an achievement...a commitment, a promise, an event. (have you heard of Elizabeth Taylor's Ping ping rings where husband goes out to the streets to get her a diamond solitaire if she wins a game) And those rings are called Ping Pong rings. Spotted them in this book.

I was recently commissioned to work on my sister's jewelry and trust me, jewelries do evoke memories. I will forever be reminded of her wedding because of the work i was entrusted with. I have to admit it was quite stressful but to see those expression, it totally made my day.. n weeks. n months... And so with that, i am positive I will keep designing pieces that bear symbolic meaning. (First she saw the unopened box. )
And then my mum opened it. lol.

There is always a story to be told. Enjoy your jewelry!

The entrance.

It sure was an experience completing the first inspection with my
sister and bro in law. I'm so glad their last leg of their honeymoon
is Bangkok... Just in time for the inspection. Three pairs of eyes
definitely better than one blur pair. So blessed.... I can't wait for
the place to be fit... And ready for my Scandinavian furniture ( at
least that's how I envision it to be).
